Terms of Service

Last updated: June 20, 2026

1. Acceptance

By using ChumiChat, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

ChumiChat is a temporary, end-to-end encrypted messaging service. Accounts exist for a maximum of 24 hours and are then permanently deleted. Messages are permanently deleted 5 minutes after the recipient opens them. We provide this service “as is” without any warranty.

ChumiChat is designed for ephemeral communication. It is not suitable for storing important information or for conversations where a permanent record is required.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use ChumiChat to:

  • Send illegal content or facilitate illegal activities
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
  • Distribute malware or malicious code
  • Attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the service
  • Spam or flood other users with unwanted messages
  • Impersonate another person or entity

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Your Account and Its Lifetime

ChumiChat accounts are temporary by design. Your account — including your username, public key, chat history, and session token — is automatically and permanently deleted 24 hours after it was created. This deletion is unconditional and cannot be extended, paused, or reversed.

Your private cryptographic key is stored only in your browser's local storage. If you clear your browser data, switch devices, or lose access to your browser before the 24-hour window ends, you will lose access to your account early. We cannot recover accounts or private keys under any circumstances.

Do not use ChumiChat to store information you cannot afford to lose. All data is ephemeral.

5. End-to-End Encryption and Limitations

ChumiChat uses ECDH key derivation and AES encryption. We cannot read, access, or recover your messages. Because of this, we cannot assist with recovering deleted or lost messages, mediate content disputes, provide message logs, or verify the content of any conversation.

Additionally, because accounts and messages are deleted automatically on a fixed schedule, we cannot provide any form of message history, audit trail, or data export — regardless of the reason requested.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

ChumiChat is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free service.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChumiChat and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data arising from your use of the service.

8. Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of the jurisdiction where the service is operated.

11. Contact

For questions about these terms, contact us at contact@chumichat.com.
